Mission Statement
The mission of Jenkins Elementary School is to ensure that all children maximize their academic potential as measured by state and local standards and build positive character evidenced by student demonstration of cooperation, collaboration, and respect.  To support this mission, we will create a safe and nurturing environment and provide a comprehensive network of support to assure these outcomes.

Our Teachers will provide free tutoring at Jenkins from 3:00 pm to 4:15 pm on the following dates: April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, May 23, and May 30.  Permission forms are available in the main office.  We are excited to offer our students this additional learning time!

The Student-Led Parent Conferences on February 3, 2017 were a success.  Our students shared their school work and goals with their parents.  It was awesome to see our students demonstrate this type of leadership!

Kathleen Gillogly won the Hickory Public Schools Spelling Bee and represented HPS at the Regional Spelling Bee in Charlotte, NC!

Free Tutoring!!!!

Jenkins staff members will provide free tutoring and homework assistance every Tuesday at the Ridgeview Library from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  We hope that your child will be able to join us.



Hickory Public Schools Book Mobile

The Book Bus will run Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30 PM-4:30 PM with the initial plans to visit the following Hickory neighborhoods once per week: Hillside Gardens, Terrace Hills, Blue Ridge Heights (cul-de-sac), and Ridge Crest/Ross Center.

Hour of Code and Wonder Lab

Students in third, fourth, and fifth grades participated in an Hour of Code and engaged in activities with iPads and spheros in our new Wonder Lab.  


Our students led the Pledge of Allegiance at the School Board meeting on December 5, 2016.



Thank you for all the donations of bottled water and snacks to support the firefighters that are battling the wildfires in western North Carolina!

The Student Council's canned food drive to support the Salvation Army was a success.  Thank you to everyone that donated canned food!
